SSVC Taps: Harry Eichler ’46 – SSVC Alumni Association

Good evening, It is with sadness that I share the news of Harry Eichler ’46 passing on October 29, 2020. His obituary follows. Harry was known as Ike by his classmates. He was in the Machine Shop, sang in the Chorus, and was on the Track team. He was in the Library Club & Yearbook staff. His sister Helen Eichler Moreno ’47, and brothers Richard ’48 & Theodore ’50 also went to SOS. They are all deceased. Thanks to his daughter Angela he was able to come to a few reunions in recent years, which he enjoyed so much. Cards or notes of sympathy maybe sent to his Angela. I am sorry I don’t have any contact information for his other children.

Obituary

Harry Frederick Eichler, age 92 of Fredericktown, Missouri passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at ClaRue Deville Nursing Center in Fredericktown.

He was born on March 3, 1928 in Bedford, Pennsylvania to Albert Edward and Alice Beulah(Rock) Eichler.

On June 13, 1964 he was united in marriage to Joyce Faulkner, she preceded him in death on June 10, 2013, also preceding him are two brothers – Ted Eichler and Richard Eichler; one sister – Helen Moreno and half sister – Betty Wentz.

Those surviving are his two children – Angela Eichler (Kelli Snyder) of Lawrence, Kansas and David Eichler of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three stepsons – Bruce Turner of Scott City, Missouri, Dennis Turner of Cape Girardeau and Robert Turner of St. Louis, Missouri; one stepdaughter – Janice Roth of Jackson, Missouri; ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Harry was a Korean War Veteran who served his country honorably; he was employed as a journeyman at Mc Donnell Douglas in St. Louis, and later worked at Madison County Road and Bridge; he enjoyed doing anything that kept him busy, including working on cars; construction and mowing his yard; he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fredericktown.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Wilson Funeral Home in Fredericktown.

A small graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Cemetery in St. Louis.
