Good Afternoon, We recently learned that Daniel “Ted” Gottshall ’60 passed away on September 14, 2020, Ted was in the Sheetmetal Shop. He played football, basketball, & baseball. He was also in the band. He was a member of the S Club.

Daniel T. “Ted” Gottshall, 78, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly on Monday at UPMC Altoona.
Ted was born in Altoona, son of the late Daniel W. and Mary E. (Anderson) Gottshall. On April 21, 1973, he married Renee Lyle who survives.
He is survived by his wife; two sisters: Gale Bagwell (Bryan) of Simpsonville, SC and Carol Davis (Mike) of Fountain Inn, SC; two grandchildren: Brady and Brooke Gottshall; daughter-in-law, Amy Gottshall Blair; and several nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Michael Lyle Gottshall.
He was a graduate of Scotland School and was a US Navy Veteran, serving for over 20 years. Ted retired from Norfolk Southern as a welder.
He was a member of First Grace Brethren Church and The Bavarian Aid Society.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. He loved animals, especially his dog Jake.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 17, 2020 at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 18, 2020 at First Grace Brethren Church, Altoona with Pastor John Townsend officiating. Interment will be at Alto Reste Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Grace Brethren Church, 2934 Maple Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601 in Ted’s memory.
