Obituary

Norma Rhey Peters (Farner), of Mechanicsburg, PA, formerly of Scotland, PA, passed away on June 3rd after a brief but courageous fight with pulmonary fibrosis.

Norma was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was the light of her family’s world—radiating warmth, strength, and grace. Her energy brought joy to every room, and her presence made every moment more meaningful. She cherished life’s simple joys—golfing on sunny days, walking along the beach, and spending time with those she loved most.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her beloved husband of 50 years, Jack Peters; her parents, Charles and Jean Farner; and her brother, Charles Farner. After her husband’s passing, Norma found strength and purpose, embracing a full, fun, and active life. She never slowed down — living each day with intention and joy.

Norma is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Keefer and her husband Baron, and Rebecca Todd and her husband Robert. She also leaves behind four grandchildren whom she loved deeply: Brooke Keefer, Paige Keefer, Jack Todd, and Margo Todd. She is also survived by her two sisters and lifelong friends, Dorcas Shea of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Linda Carbaugh of Scotland, PA.

Her presence was a gift, and her memory will remain a guiding light for all who knew and loved her.

Private services will be held at a later date at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the  Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation  in her honor.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many dear friends and family who reached out, visited, and supported Norma during her valiant fight, as well as to her compassionate care team.
