Eleanor Gryciez Miscavage ‘48 and Florence Gryciez Klucinski ‘49 are identical twins. No one knows who is who in the
picture above, not even Ell and Flo. Ell lives in Wilkes-Barre, PA and
Flo in Clifton, NJ. They celebrated a birthday on June 2nd. Happy
Belated Birthday Twins! (Thanks to Paul Kostenbauder ‘48 of Florida for sharing the picture).
Mary Rhoads Christ ‘58: Mary attended the breakfast at
Yoder’s in Lancaster County on April 19, 2014, in part thanks to Ron
Ford ‘58, who also came to the breakfast. It was great to see these
members of the class of 1958. Both Mary and Ron live in Lancaster, PA.
Class of 1965—Diane Walsh Freeman, Rita Brown Cline, Pam Straley Reeder, Sally Sheaffer and our illustrious president, Kenny O’Brien are working on the details of a dinner for our 50th Reunion on Friday, June 12, 2015 of Reunion. Evelyn Millhouse McElwain ‘68: Michael and Evelyn Millhouse
“68” McElwain will be celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary
on November 21st. They were married in the school chapel on November 21, 1976. Also, Evelyn did her internship at the infirmary when she lost her job in 1996 after 28 years. She went back to school and got a degree in the medical field. Congratulations to you, Evelyn!
Preston Jones ‘69: Congratulations are in order to Preston
Jones ‘69 for his retirement on April 1, 2014 as a bus operator
for SEPTA after 33 years of service. We are certain Preston will be missed by all who relied on his transportation service as well as the SEPTA management team. Good job, Preston. All the best to you and your family in your retirement!
James Bria ‘70 feels blessed to have been on an unbelievable journey for 35 years with his company, TSI. Jim retired on April 1, 2014. His wife, Bunnie, retired in 2013 after 39 years teaching elementary education. They will celebrate 40 years of married life this year. Jim and Bunnie are going to enjoy their time together with visits to their children who live all over the country and Jim’s siblings. We offer our congratulations to Jim on the occasion of his retirement and our heartfelt thanks for his support of the golf tournament.
Class of 1974 from Ken Beck: Wow. I cannot believe it has been 40
years (yes, I said 40) since the class of 1974 graduated. As some of
you know, I have been trying to put together a small reunion for our
class. I have done most of this on Facebook. This reunion will be
held at our Homecoming dinner on November 8th at the American Legion in Chambersburg. Information about the dinner is in this newsletter. As I have said before in previous newsletters, I am not going to beg you to come. What I would like is for my classmates of ‘74 to consider coming to this dinner if for no other reason to rekindle old friendships. If you know of anyone from the class of ‘74, please tell them to contact me. My email address is on the page with officers listed. I would also like to state that this reunion is “not”
just for those that graduated. This is for anyone that went to Scotland School and would have been in the class of ‘74. So please think about joining us on November 8th. We would love to see you. Herbert M. Turner III ‘79: Herb’s older son, Herbie IV,
13 years old, was accepted as a top admit to the highly selective Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. Out of 3,000 applicants, he was awarded the George HW Busch Scholarship for Outstanding Student Leadership. Herb says Herbie has been on a “Scotland schedule” since his youth-and he is incredibly disciplined which allows his talents to shine through! Congratulations to Herbie and we wish him all the best in his academic pursuits!
Rev. Jerry and Sharon Logan: Many thanks to Rev. Jerry and Sharon Logan for hosting the July 26th picnic and for their efforts to have the best site at Caledonia State Park, a great spread of food and paper essentials as well as door prizes. About 25 alumni, staff and friends of SSVC attended the picnic. If anyone left and didn’t have enough to eat, it was their own fault! Thanks again to the Logans for the special time together!
