Sixteen members of the class of 1965 (see picture below) attended their 50th Class Reunion on Friday, June 12, 2015. They were joined by spouses, family members and friends. They had a room at the Chambersburg American Legion adjacent to the main alumni body. The entire evening was one to remember! It was so wonderful seeing classmates, some we hadn’t seen for 20 or 30 years or more. And, no one had changed a bit! Ok, at least in our minds we were all the same young kids who had left Scotland in 1965.
Of course, we were saddened by those classmates who couldn’t join us and those who had passed on. And we would have loved to have seen faculty, staff and administrators who couldn’t join us.
We were fortunate to have some teachers and their spouses who were available to join us: Ray S. “Red” McKenzie, Leland and Edie Schaffer, Ken and Shirley Katusin, and Kaye Shearer. They made us all smile and think back to their expectations of us. We hope we measured up after all these years!

There was a scrumptious dinner, special prizes, door prizes and a lovely cake (see above). Most of the special prizes all seemed to go to Gary and Leroy Pogue! So they traveled the farthest, had the most grandkids, etc. Guess they earned those prizes!
On Saturday, we were fortunate enough to have Nancy Shafer Judd and Roy Jones and his wife join us. Suffice it to say we were grateful to see all our classmates who could attend. A good time was had by all and we were already looking forward to our 60th! See you at Scotland in 2025?!
Our thanks were offered to the members of the planning committee: Ken O’Brien, Rita Brown Cline, Diane Walsh Freeman, and Sally Sheaffer. One member of the committee, Pam Straley Reeder, passed away in March 2015 unexpectedly. We were shocked and saddened by her loss.
