SSVC Taps: Elizabeth “Liz” Forney Pischke’s ’60 – Obituary

Dear SSVC family & friends,

Following is Liz Forney Pischke’s ’60 obituary.

Elizabeth “Liz” Pischke passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, May 11, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina, in the presence of her daughter and surrounded by those who cared for her.

Liz is survived by her two children, Julie and Rob, and five grandchildren, Carter, Brennan, Kaleigh, Matthew, and Maya, all of whom brought tremendous pride and joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her eldest child, Shari, whose passing remained deeply felt and close to her heart throughout the years.

A proud alumna of the Scotland School for Veterans’ Children in Scotland, Pennsylvania, Liz maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates and held a deep appreciation for the experiences and relationships formed during those years. She remained closely connected with her SSVC family throughout her life and always carried a special place in her heart for that community.

Liz will be remembered for her loving heart, warmth, and engaging personality. She never met a stranger and made friends wherever she went. She had a vibrant spirit, a caring heart, and an independent nature that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

In honor of Liz’s memory, the family has partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project, one of her favorite charitable organizations. For those inclined to make a memorial contribution in her honor, donations may be made through her memorial page: Liz Memorial Fund Page

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, friends, classmates, and loved ones who have shared their support, prayers, stories, and kindness during this difficult time.
Liz was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
