SSVC Taps: Mr. Carl Miller (89), Math Teacher passed away 1/26/2024

Good morning,  it is with sadness that I share the news that Mr. Carl Miller passed away on January 26, 2024.  A memorial service will be held today – Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, PA 17201. Deacon Rick Ramsey will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Narthex.

 

 

Carl Ludwig Miller, age 89, of Chambersburg, passed peacefully on January 26, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 10, 1934, the son of William Otto Miller and Anna Marie Metzger Miller. His beloved wife of 64 years, Arlene Morrissey Miller, preceded him in death on April 13, 2021.

Carl graduated from Etna High School and Carnegie (Tech) Mellon with a Civil Engineering degree. He worked in the steel mills in Pittsburgh and, upon moving to Chambersburg, he began his teaching career. He taught math for over 25 years at the Scotland School for Veterans’ Children, Carroll County MD, and York County Career Center.

Carl and Arlene loved to travel and visited all 50 states and four continents. He enjoyed construction and the remodeling of homes. Carl also enjoyed using his skills to volunteer at the Capitol Theater, Corpus Christi Church and other organizations.

Carl is survived by his four sons: Scott (Sonja) Miller, Brad (Teresa) Miller, Brian (Lori) Miller and Reed (Melisha) Miller, his eight grandchildren Clay Miller, Katie (Chandler) Smith, Colton (Ivy) Miller, Mary Alice Miller, Weston Miller, Clark Miller, Madelyn (Hunter) McDannell, Abigail Miller, and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Carl was preceded in death by a brother, William Miller, and a sister, Lois Miller Crighton.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, PA 17201. Deacon Rick Ramsey will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Narthex. Arrangements are entrusted to SimpleChoice Cremation Services Inc. of Chambersburg PA.
