SSVC Taps: Mrs. Phyllis Dusman, wife of Mr. Ralph Dusman

Good evening SSVC Alumni & Friends, it is with sadness that I share the news that Mrs. Phyllis Dusman passed away on March 30, 2024.  Mrs. Dusman is the wife of Mr. Ralph Dusman (teacher/coach/Director of Education).    A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.  Mrs. Dusman’s obituary follows.

Obituary

 

Phyllis J. (Huggens) Dusman, 81, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 in the York WellSpan Hospital. Born June 12, 1942 in Hanover, PA she was the daughter of the late J. Samuel and Violet E. (Dickensheets) Huggens.

 

She was a graduate of Hanover High School with the Class of 1960. Phyllis was employed as Office Manager from 1969 until 1989 at Fashion Lane, Chambersburg. Following that she was employed for 15 years as the church Secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church, Chambersburg.

 

Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Chambersburg. She had a giving heart and volunteered at the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary and at Luther Ridge Retirement Community for a number of years. She loved going on family vacations to the beach. In recent years she looked forward to her frequent getaways to Myrtle Beach to visit with friends. Family was everything to Phyllis; she was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s number one fan, cheering them on at all their events. Her natural ability to love and care for others was experienced by all who met her. She was a selfless person who was full of life and always had a smile on her face. Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 

She was devoted to her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Ralph Dusman. Also surviving are two children, Todd Dusman and his wife Catherine of Chambersburg and Cheryl Andrews and her husband Greg of Carmichaels, PA; three grandchildren, Cody, Maura, and Rachel; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Nora, Owyn, and Layla. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Huggens.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Phyllis’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.

 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning in the funeral home.
