SSVC Taps: Paul Fochler ’60 passed away 12/3/2023

Good evening, it is with sadness that I share the news that Paul Fochler ’60 passed away 12/3/2023.  Following is his obituary.

 

Paul was in the machine shop.  He played football and basketball.  He was a member of the band and the visual arts club.  Along with Paul his brothers Regis ’61 & Richard ’61 attended SSVC.

Obituary

 

Paul Joseph Fochler, age 82, of Marietta, Georgia passed away December 3, 2023. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023, at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia with Rev. Terry Semones officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul F. and Margaret C. Fochler and sister Catherine J. Fochler (Vincent) Wolf.

 

Paul was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania and lived most of his life in Cobb County, Georgia. He was a Veteran of the United States Army “82nd Airborne Division” during the Vietnam era. A member of the American Legion Post 29 in Marietta, GA. He was a Sales Engineer with Industrial Processing for over 20 years. Paul loved golfing and was a member of Dogwood Golf Club, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. 

 

Survivors include: wife of 40 years: Darlene S. Fochler of Marietta, GA; son: Paul Joseph Fochler, II and wife Candace of Johns Creek; two grandchildren: Paul Joseph Fochler, III and Philip Jay Fochler; sister: Libby (Wayne) Goodell of Mesquite, TX; three brother: Regis (Peggy) Fochler of Smyrna, GA, Richard (Carol) Fochler of San Antonio, TX and Dan (Linda) Fochler of Altoona, PA and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia. 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul Fochler’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org .
